F03300 AA5, AA6 Tumble from rampart - some large slabs but mostly fairly small pieces of limestone with dark brown/black soil between. Some burning, mainly in AA5. F03302 AA5, AA6 Small limestone rubble (av 10x15 cms) in a light brown soil matrix - but not much soil. This shows very basally in section. Virtually the same layer as F03304. F03304 AA5, AA6 Very large limestone slabs (largest 60x50 cms) tipping downwards in light brown sandy soil, mostly composed of oolites.the larger slabs are in the east of AA6 and slabs get smaller low down the slope. F03304 and F03302 may well be the same layer, but finds marked F03302 came out to the west of F03303 which was excavated before F03304 was exposed further up the slope to the west of F03303. F03304 used only for the large tumble in AA6 and AA5. F03302 therefore extends under F03303 written off as part of F03301. F03310 AA5 Rubble fill of F03305. Small to medium limestone with soft light brown soil rather voided. This feature appears to continue the other side of the baulk i.e into AA6 where there is some disturbance (see feature plan ) but was not excavated as it is overlain by tumble, which we have not removed.
