Posthole at the end of the inner hornwork. Layer (1): Hard packed stones (tumble from inner horn work). Layer (2): Hard packed stones and chipples (grey mould on chipples) (fragment of bone found in chipples). Layer (3): Chipples with some small fragments charcoal, grey mould on chipples. Fewer burnt stones in layer (2) than found in F00081.Mainly large stones in fill.

Post hole plus blackened area at the end of the (original) outer hornwork, now truncated by machine intrusion.
Layer (1): Hard packed brown earth and small burnt and unburnt stones. Layer (2): Loosely packed burnt and unburnt stones larger than those in layer (1). Layer (3): Light brown/yellow sediment containing harder-packed mud patches, and flakes of charcoal. This post hole larger in diameter than F00080.

Post hole
Front vertical timber at South end of cutting, near F00094 in main rampart wall, another vertical post hole, topped with meringue and charcoal, still embedded in this meringue (F00095). This vertical could be linked with the possible horizontal beam, as immediately adjacent were burnt stones running through the meringue, backwards from the front of the wall, horizontally, These did not, however, exactly match any of the lacing holes
