F00950 C4 Posthole, somewhat resembling F00492. Usual brown soil and small stones, which seem to be packing stones, though not as distinct as other small ones nearby - many chipples. Finds:Pot, fragments of daub near top: no burnt stones. F00951 C4 Posthole, close to F00491 - ragged edges though has shape somewhat similar to F00590. Perhaps the two are linked. Apparently small packing stones on eastern side - not shown in section as only in the northern half - no burnt stones - no finds. Brown soil and large stones at top graded down to chipples above bedrock - no sharp edged layers. F00954 C4 Posthole - round - packing stones to take square post, though not as definite as F00953 or F00492. Fill entirely of packing stones apart from looser earthy fill in central square. Considerable quantities of chipples over bedrock. F00957 C4 This feature is a disturbance in south-west of cutting, which is almost certainly entirely natural, a gull disturbed by major tree roots. Layer (1): Brown soil and stones looking like disturbed bedrock as in F491. Layer (2): Red/Brown soil sticky-not more than five centimetres thick. Layer (3): Yellow/White chalky substance found with chipples (as in gull in BVIII (1). This is probably entirely natural - possibly just where gull runs through. Gull has layer (2) of F957 but instead of turning into layer (3) [of F00957] here it has a yellow chipple layer. Finds: Minute scraps of charcoal and daub in layer (1).
