Area of burning with small hard-packed rubble. Much burnt limestone in large chunks. Many larger burn stones. Seems to have two halves. F04401, the NW area with big flat burnt stones. The SE area with smaller stones, more disturbed is designated F04447. This is probably at least two hearth, the later one being F04401. F04447 is probably an earlier hearth.

Area of burnt small, hard packed rubble. Actually excavated as extending in C6, D6 and D7, around grid peg. Surface burnt patch only. No depth beyond initial layer. Hollow beneath the patch may be a feature: this was about 10 cms deep and very shallow sloping sides, perhaps a natural fault.

Small depression, few flakes of burning. Large deep hole, probably PH, possible secondary feature to NW-less deep (30cm). Clearly two PHs, F04444 is smaller and earlier. Good vertical packing stones. Pack stone angles reflect the fact that F04407 cuts F04444. Definite PH with pack stones. One corner of structure B (four poster). Finds: Charcoal chunks, burnt soil and stones, some bone and fired clay.
