F01408 G2 Posthole of A5 longhouse, initially excavated in 1971 as F00231, quod videte. During the reopening of 1973 it was considerably overdug, and eventually solid bedrock  was reached to give a hole 50 cms wide and 14 cms deep. The 1971 profile, given here, is the correct one. Like F01407 this posthole showed a heavy packing of small stones at the top, indicating that the post came near to filling the hole, and that its lowest portion was not accessible for stone packing.
