F01754 J1 Probable hearth. The section is possibly misleading, but it appears to have had a vertical stone surround. No large blocks remained in the centre, and there were no included finds. It is possible that the hearth had been destroyed by root disturbance since the Iron Age. F01958 J99, J1 Posthole of J99/J1 section. Found after removal of layer (2). Appeared as a half-circle against section, with darker soil and concentration of burnt stones. Although edges pretty broken, the contents fell away satisfactorily and never any doubt about extent of hole.
