of dark loose earth as distinct from the surrounding limestone rubble.
Layered: 1. mid-brown clayey soil with occasional limestone chipples 2. lighter in colour and containing more chipples 3. yellowish, hard and compacted silt The fill included very little burnt material, though of the finds most of the bone was burnt |

Ill-defined outline due to it continuing into the section edge of the cutting
and thus into P2. Layered: . dark earthy soil . lighter soil containing limestone chipples Though shallow and roughly outlined it contained a large number of finds including pottery sherds and rims of the Windmill Hill Neolithic type. |
