F02913 P4 Subrectangular raised area bounded by discontinuous irregular depressions. Interior covered by small stones forming regular surface especially on SE half, but only surviving in patches on NW. 2 layers. F02914 P4 Two pits. Area of large slabs and dense burning in Layer (2). Occurs in N quadrant of F02913(1). Two apparent pits to either side of fault running NW-SE through feature. First thought to be a hearth and may be that the large burnt stones on the surface were in fact the remains of a hearth without structure. This dense burning is not deep. Finds: Pit(A) contained apparent remains of burnt human skull. Pig jaw bone. See feature sheet for discussion. Fill: Much burnt limestone and very stoney earth where fault running through F02913 meets outer limit of F02913. F02916 P4 Scattered area of burins recognised in Layer (2). Three parts to feature recognised. F02916A: Small posthole, packing stones indicate post-pipe. Fill:much burnt limestone and stoney soil. Finds: Numerous flint, charcoal, burned clay and tooth. F02916B: Narrow hole c 6cms diam at bottom, 21 cms deep. Fill of burnt limestone and stoney soil. Finds: Charcoal, bone, flint, pot, nut. F02917B: Hollow 11 cms diam and 8 cms deep. F02916C: Very small hollow 15 cms diam, 8 cms deep. F02919 P4 Posthole. Area of burnt limestone with upstanding packing stones in Layer (2). Irregular sides. Packing stones indicate post-pipe slightly to N of centre. and 20-25 cms which was much burnt esp on N side. Fill:Stoney earth, more clay towards bottom. Grey leaching at bottom.
