F02128 P99 Posthole, like F02126, this showed up after initial cleaning. Layered:
. mid-brown clayey soil with a large quantity of burnt limestone
. similar colour and texture to 1 but higher proprtion of limestone chipples.
Finds were limited to layer (1).

F02129 P99 Posthole, identified at a high level of the fill. Layered:
. dark brown clayey soil with many small stones and limestone chipples
. lighter brown soil with few stones or chipples

F02130 P99 Posthole, Layered:
. dark brown, rooty earth with many small stones
. mid-brown clayey earth
. compact light brown clay mixed with heavily eroded limestone

F02131 P99 Posthole, indicated by an area of burnt limestone after the gull had been cleaned down about 2 inches. Layered:
. mid-brown clayey soil with roots and fungus with large chipples
. light brown clayey soil with roots and fungus with smaller chipples
. light yellow compacted intrusion with small pieces of charcoal
he fill in general contained a relatively large amount of burnt limestone. The finds from this feature came exclusively from layer (1).

F02132 P99 Surface of worn limestone slabs, uncovered after the initial cleaning of both P99 and P98. Within the area were a number of heavily burnt patches. No features cutting the surface could be identified therefore approx. 2 inches were removed to reveal a surface which resembled limestone rubble (later to be found to extend a further 7 inches down). Within this features could be identified. Parts of 2 neolithic polished stone axes were found on the worn surface, which itself was not cut by any features but sealed a number of features including a posthole. This was well cut and would appear, therefore, to date to the Iron Age.
he impression gained from the worn slabs is that they were intentionally laid there becoming worn as a result of being used as a path or trackway.

F02133 P99 Hearth, composed of one large, flat, red burnt limestone slab with a few smaller burnt stones in close proximity. Its position, within a structure seemingly formed by a number of large postholes, seems to indicate that it was the hearth of a longhouse (?) F02137 P99 Posthole, large, cut into the hard white meringue (?) material of the gull and was filled with loose dirty gull material (as F02131 and F02138). The finds included a large piece of quern stone, very worn, with noticeably shaped edge. F02139 P99 Posthole, small, cut into the gull slightly broken up by rabbit disturbance. Showed up as an area of burnt limestone but the sides did not become apparent until a lower level. Finds included some large pot sherds which were unusually thick and coarse in appearance. F02141 P99 Uncertain as to what this feature is. A large deep scooped hollow. Layered:
. typical dirty gull material
. soft bright yellow gull type material
inds from this feature were few although the bottom of layer 2 yielded a number of pieces of charcoal. If the feature is natural then it would probably be a result of water action as opposed to animal or root disturbance however, no eroded channels are apparent as would be expected. If, on the other hand, it is man-made it is difficult to see what it would have been used for.

F02143 P99 Posthole, showed up extremely clearly at a low level, being marked by an area of very loose, dark soil. After half sectioning it appeared to have a second cut, which may be a slot. This seems quite likely as there appear to be 3 or 4 other elongated slots about the cuttings.
