General number for area bounded by F05683 - F05654, consists of dark brown soil in medium rubble. Structure ? - Could be associated with the end of Long Mound. Associated with F05566. Forecourt cobbling :
Layer 1 covered N area same as F05651. F05670 and F05717 covered small area adjoining mound end and extending no more than c.1m from the mound end with F05717 much better represented than F05670 (? F05670 removed when topsoil taken off area). F05674 and F05683 laid as a single unit shown by interleaving of the cobbling. The difference between surface F05674 and the nicely cobbled surface in W96 continued on removal of the F05674 cobbles, ie F06247 and F06248 differ.
