F06103 X97 Patch of burnt stone in an area of chipple and red soil. Associated features: F06114. Associated finds charcoal, pot. Comment: the burning in this feature was patchy and formed no definite edge. The fill is the same as that of F06114 and so F06103 appears to be equal to F06114 which also contains scattered burnt limestone. F06117 appears in patches it does not cover all of  F06118 (Gull Bedrock). F06114 X97 Area of small stones in a red soil. Layer contains many burnt stones. Layer extends E – W across X97 in about 1 m wide strip. Associated features: F06127. Associated finds: charcoal, flint, tooth, pot, bone, antler, barley (+ Neo pot lug?) wheat. Comment: overlies a heavily leached feature. There appears to be a trench running along the centre - edges are not at all clear. There were no indications of stakeholes finds suggests feature to be Neolithic rather than Dark Age. Phasing: this feature is later than the ditch F05499 as it cuts into it. This feature is believed to be Dark Age (its Neo finds having been redeposited) the fact that it was visible from high up in the section helps to confirm this. A small piece of metal was found by scrunging and the large quantity of grain (on 22/8 54 x barley, 10 x wheat) was not mineralised - this suggests that the feature could not be Neolithic. F06114 cuts F06136 and therefore the Neolithic finds in the fenceline are read deposited from F06136 which has a higher concentration of finds (especially pot + large bone). F06136 X97 Area of burning + 4 large bones (each c. 15 -18 cm in length.). Associated finds: bone, pot, flint, charcoal. Comment: F06136 is cut by F06114. The findings from F06136 then appear to have been redeposited in F06114 (e.g. the large bones– which in F06114 have usually been broken). F06136 is later than both causewayed ditches (F05499, F06120) and appears to be symmetrical to F06205 but the concentration of finds is not as high as that in F06205. F06136 is later than the fence line associated with entrance of the first causeway ditch (F06120) as it overlies the stake holes. The stake holes have a fill of orange soil whereas F06136 is red/brown. F06561 X97 Circular area in gull bedrock containing a leached burnt fill (small burnt stones and occasional unburnt stones. Associated features: F06573, F07029. Associated finds: much charcoal, few frags. of v. b. bone, grain (spelt, wheat + barley). Comment V. large and heavily burnt PH with majority of the charcoal coming from southern half. The degree of burning in the southern half, + the abundance of charcoal + the presence of stones in the northern half suggests that the post stood at this side when burnt. PH F06565 can clearly be seen to be cut by F06561 in plan due to colour difference in the fill. PH has produced much grain (137 grains 2/8/85) mainly barley with some spelt wheat: therefore PH is unlikely to be Neolithic. Snail remians suggest an open grassland area. Phasing: Possible 1a post of granary. Section 1:10 Area to the left of the dotted line shows a much  higher degree of burning and produced much more charcoal than that to the right. This, and the position of the stones to the right, suggests that the post stood to the southern side of the PH. Post hole F06561 cuts through an earlier shallower post hole F06565 The cut was seen clearly in plan as the fill of F06561 was purple grey and the fill of F06565 was orange brown.
